Graffiti is not a form of art, it is not made for MTV, the back of your backpack, t shirts or impressing chicks. It's a lifestyle of expression beyond borders and systems. It's a place people exist and live. Please do not shit in the house. Respect the rules and those who have come before you.

touche' well said.. graffiti like punk has been misinterpreted as an out come of the MTV. wen infact it is more out of a necessity of a medium of expression that we have street art. which is why i thnk it hasnt caught on in india as it has in the west. we have built in mechanisms of expression within the system, early on it was the 'kolam' or the rangoli that would act as a medium.. now they have all become art of a bygone era but i am sure that the origins of both graffiti and kolam would have similar tales to tell.
